Over het product

Cornus mas of de gele kornoelje is een kleine tot middelgrote boom of struik inheems in grote delen van midden en zuid europa en west azië. Hij bloeit vroeg in de lente met een zee van gele bloempjes op het naakte hout, na de bloei ontwikkelen zich kleine kersachtige vruchten (vandaar ook de naam 'cornelian cherry') die mooi rood kleuren en eetbaar zijn. Anders dan zijn soortgenoten voelt deze Cornus mas zich ook goed in kalkhoudende grond, zelfs in natte klei. In de herst volgt ook nog een mooi bladverkleuring naar oranjerood tot roodpaars.
